Build a gutter.

Snap each length of gutter into the brackets. The first time i saw a picture of a gutter garden i was hooked and had to have one for myself. Wood box gutters were the premiere gutter design for the drainage of rain water from roofs in the united states from 1890 to 1925 and can still be found on houses today. No one knows who originated the idea of growing shallow rooted plants in a prepared gutter but it is a worthwhile undertaking.

Install the remaining straps with a spacing of about 2 ft 61 cm. Build the entire gutter system and cement it together before splitting the pipe and couplers to create two halves. Install a self drilling aluminum roofing screw that pierces and secures the flashing gutter and supporting strap photo 2 and 3. On the end of the gutter that will be placed on the lower bracket drill two small holes.

Place all gutters then attach to the fence. It was so neat and organized looking and it shouted low maintenance which is right up my alley. Box gutters are actually built off of the rafters of the building they are not hung from the building as metal gutters are. Make sure that the lower end of each gutter length is the end with the two drainage.

This will be far easier than splitting the pipes and couplers beforehand and having to try to cement half pieces. Drill two holes at the end of the gutter.
