Building A Freestanding Wall

Freestanding mortared walls like the fieldstone one i m building here need a stable frost proof footing to prevent shifting and that requires a lot of digging in cold climates.

Building a freestanding wall.

All free standing walls share some common building components in their construction. As a general guide joints should be considered at 5 6 metre centres. A free standing wall is best if you are renting or do not have a suitable pre existing structure to anchor into.
